Lee E. Whitehead

 

 

ROCKBRIDGE - Lee E. Whitehead, 68, of rural Rockbridge passed away Friday, May 30, 2014, at his residence.

He was born to Dan and Julia (Savage) Whitehead, Jan. 19, 1946, in Hohenwald, Tenn. He married Phyllis Pate May 28, 1969, in Alton and she survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Lisa (John) Brinkman of Alton and Leanne (Aaron) Parmenter of Bethalto; two brothers, Clint and Jerry and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings.

Mr. Whitehead served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was a laborer for Fred Weber Construction in St Louis before retiring to rural Rockbridge where he loved spending time on his farm raising sheep and goats. He loved most of all his three girls, Phyllis, Lisa and Leanne.

Cremation rites will be accorded and memorial visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Tuesday June 3, at the Shields-Bishop Funeral Home in Greenfield where a service of remembrance will follow at 7 pm.

Memorials are suggested to the Arthritis National Research Foundation or the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation.
